IT'S EASTER SEASON, PEOPLE!!!!

Easter ought to be an eight-day festival, with champagne served after morning prayer or even before, with lots of alleluias and extra hymns and spectacular anthems. It is any wonder people find hard to believe in the resurrection of Jesus if we don’t throw our hats in the air? Is it any wonder we find it hard to live the resurrection if we don’t do it exuberantly in our liturgies? It is any wonder the world doesn’t take much notice if Easter is celebrated as simply the one-day happy ending tacked on to forty days of fasting and gloom? It’s long over due that we took a hard look at how we keep Easter in church, at home, in our personal lives, right through the system.

– Bishop N.T. Wright

Hey, Catholics - are you still greeting people with "Happy Easter"? No? Well, why not? Afraid they will look at you like you are a little calendar-challenged?

Well, let's remember that we are celebrating the Resurrection of Our Lord and Savior right up to the birthday of Holy Mother Church - Pentecost Sunday - and have a little fun with it.

Dye some eggs and put them out for everyone to find....and when they won't, find them for them and put them in their lunches.

Hum "Here Comes Peter Cottontail" in the grocery store while in line at the 12 Items or Less register...and smile broadly when someone looks at you with a big question mark on their forehead.....

Whenever the sun comes out after a bit of rain, look around, smile and say (in a loud voice) I LOVE EASTER SEASON.

Look, everyone is always calling Catholic crazy...well, show them crazy...have some fun with it.

BTW - welcome to our newest family member: Jack Ryan Arata, born 4-12-10 at 2:44pm.....and he is quite good looking. Doncha think?
