First of all, I wish to offer a prayer for the new president.
Lord, I thank you for the gift of freedom. I thank you for the chance to live in a country where the transfer of power is peaceful. I am grateful that I am allowed to vote and drive a car; though there are times, Lord, when I do not think I am qualified to do either one.
On this, a day when America has elected its first African/Irish American as President of the United States, a man who is against gay marriage and pro-abortion, who hates war but sees nothing wrong with killing 4 to 6 thousand babies every day, who wants to reach out and educate people so abortion is the last choice they want to make, but wants to make sure that no one is 'punished' with a baby, I ask for healing and peace.
I ask, Heavenly Father, that The Holy Spirit descend upon our new leader and fill his heart, his mind and his soul with a love for Truth.
I ask, Oh Creator, that You protect him during his tenure in office.
I ask, humbly, O Lord, that You heal the wounds made by the anger of this election and allow for all Americans to open their hearts to You.
Lord, I know that You are the author of all Truth. I also know that, while You will never force Your Will upon those who reject You, nothing happens in this Universe but that You allow it through Your permissable Will. I may be disappointed. I may be elated. That does not matter. What I am NOT is afraid, for I trust in YOU and Your infinite wisdom and mercy to protect me and my country in just the way we deserve to be protected.
And I know, Dear Father, that ultimately I must pledge myself to Truth and Love. Without Jesus, His Church, His Sacraments and the gift of Faith I cannot stay sober and so survive.
For all this I humbly ask, Dear Father. And for all You have given me, I say, 'Thank you, Lord'.

o - and one more thing...do you think maybe the Niners could win just a few more games this season? Thanks...

Thank you, Leslie. As one person from McCain's camp said, "God help America." Not meant disrespectfully at all; just what some of us feel as we read and listen to other Americans' responses to this historical events.

I agree in some sense. This is going to be an important time for us...we are being asked to stand up for Truth even when people tell us we are crazy, that we 'make it up as we go along' and otherwise abuse us...like the Church in the First Century we are going to have to unite in prayer...we can do this....but it will be difficult!
Jesus, I trust in You!
Leslie - our hearts are turned towards God in a way that perhaps they have not yet been turned. We continue to pray, of course, that others hearts will also come to know God in His Goodness and in the Fullness of His Church.
This is a time of testing - to be sure - this is a time of letting God do His work while we cling to Him in our weakness.
For when we are weak, He is strong...Lord, let us not rely upon ourselves too much!
