Horror and Evil in Connecticut

My heart is broken.

Today's headline in the Modesto Bee : http://www.modbee.com/2012/12/14/2495646/report-27-killed-including-18.html was placed right above the joyous photo of high school football fans saying good bye to their kids.  Their children are on their way to try and win a championship.  Their parents are waving and cheering and saying good-bye.

The parents of 18 little ones said good-bye to them this morning and today are going to be planning their funerals.

During a time when presents are being wrapped and trips for the babies to see Santa at the local mall are supposed to take precedent, these parents are going to be picking out caskets, planning funeral Masses and deciding what to put on a headstone.

My heart is broken.

It is difficult to even write about something like this; in today's world you would think we would get horribly used to another nut case going to a school, a mall, a theatre and committing mass murder.

I cannot get used to it.  I will never get used to it.  My head hurts, my eyes are filled with tears and my heart...

My heart is broken.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and may perpetual light shine upon them.  May Our Lady meet the little ones at the gates of heaven and lead them to her Son, Our Lord and Savior.

Thank you, God, that they will never be without you ever again....

and please, heal my broken heart.

In Jesus' Name.

amen.
