Attack of the Office Cold

Well, it finally happened. Despite all my preventive measures, the cold that has been haunting my office for months finally found me.

I woke up this morning with the scratchy throat thing, the stuffed up nose thing, the bubbly sound in the ears thing....ah, ah, ah CHOO!!!

I grabbed the Zicam for daytime and took a dose after breakfast (30 pounds down since Jan 7! Yay for me!) and followed that up with daytime Tylenol before I headed out the door to work. Six hours later I took the first Dayquil.

What makes this difficult is that I have to turn my cold medicine upside down because of the hours I work. Daytime stuff gets taken in the evenings and the middle of the night and when I get home I will take the nighttime stuff and try to get a good solid 6 or 8 hours of sleep. I changed the sheets on the bed, sprayed everything with Lysol and put the rest in the hands of a loving and merciful God.

I HATE getting colds - but in all fairness I have been very lucky this year. While everyone else around me fell like trees before the ax of Paul Bunyan, I kept chugging along. This in spite of the immune suppressent drugs I have to take for the RA. So, I really cannot complain if it is now my turn. Sure, the timing could be better but when is it ever really the right time to be sick? Never, says the troll under the bed with the Vicks Vapo Rub....

Mom's hand/arm is doing great. She is still on the antibiotics, of course, but she responded quickly to treating that cat bite and is feeling wonderful. I am blessed in that she is, fundamentally, very healthy for 86 years young.

Tomorrow, Jillian Rose turns 7.

It is amazing how time flies. I remember when I got the call that there was a Jillian Rose in our future - my brother was so excited. I was too, because I just had the feeling that we were going to get a little girl added to our family. We needed a Rose of our own.

She is such a kick. Not only did she make me laugh with her Pom Pom thing about next Sunday but she has an overall great sense of humor. She also has her grandmother's stubborn streak (not her Auntie's - oh NO NO NO!) and is almost fearless when it comes to new things...she can be shy with people, but also has no problem claiming people for her own. Father Illo might as well be the Pope as far as she is concerned and Donna, the lady who teaches Children's Liturgy, is her best friend.

All in all, things are going well. We are preparing for our inspection in May which means cleaning up the stuff in the office that has been piling up for want of any place to put it for the past couple of years. I cleaned out one and a half lateral files myself, but I am not strong enough to move them so that will be up to either General Service of someone else.

Keep me in prayer....you never know with this cold and I have training all next week....

ah ahh aaaahhhhhhh
CHOO!!!!!

I think your Rose gets her sense of humor from her aunt Leslie. LOL!

Sorry your having the cold thing. I hate colds but the cold gremlins do seem to pop up when we least expect it.

Praying for a quick recovery.
